I’m certainly not one of the managers of this forum, but I’ll dare to suggest. By creating a question in this section, in my opinion the author is looking to get a detailed and clear answer. There are separate places for discussions. Actually, adding your own arguments, positions, and thoughts to an answer will push it past 300 even on the simplest question.
Interesting question, it’s been asked many times and discussed with the admins. Indeed, sometimes there are questions where 80-100 characters are enough, but because of the requirement you have to stretch it and “pad it out” to reach the required minimum.
By the way, if I’m not mistaken, the minimum used to be even higher. So writing 300 isn’t that hard. I don’t know if that’s allowed at all, but say you wrote 200 characters and there’s nothing more to say, you can “space-fill” the rest and then the submit button will become active.

You have to make up completely unnecessary information for no one. There aren’t any Pushkins or Dostoevskys here, so I don’t understand what these requirements are for.

The forum terms were set out not just for nothing, but to prevent and limit the forum from “abusers” of points, from spam and flooding, but as always, everyone “suffers”, including decent, reasonable users. So overall I agree and would not have been against the changes to the 100-character requirement in replies where that would be enough for a detailed answer.
