$10 turned into a jackpot.

A resident of New York state hit the Fast Play lottery jackpot after buying a $10 ticket. The exact amount of her win was $263,465, lottery officials said.

The winner, Pamela Griffin, said she couldn’t believe the jackpot. When she told her husband – he also thought it wasn’t true. She had won small amounts before, but the American hit a jackpot for the first time at 55. After taxes, her payout will be $187,089. Griffin plans to use the money to pay for her daughter’s college education.

Earlier, a winning Powerball ticket was sold in Connecticut for the February 14 drawing. The jackpot was $185.3 million.

I never believed in such lotteries, the chance of winning in them tends to zero.

I wouldn’t have believed it myself. You have to be really lucky for that.

PS. A friend of mine about 10-11 years back got hooked on the lotto and hit the “big one”, back then they had a live TV broadcast of the draw… She got the whole prize, though in parts)

Yeah, she got lucky. The odds of hitting such a lottery are almost zero. But I still keep thinking that most of these wins are fake, though I don’t deny the fact that someone does hit them.
