The German outlet Puls24 published a piece titled: “Propagandists turn against the Austrian ambassador and A1”. The text describes not only the detention of A1 Belarus press secretary Nikolai Bredelev and his “repentance video” in one of the pro-government Telegram channels, but also mentions Saturday’s remark by STV host Grigory Azarenok regarding the Austrian side.
In this segment Azarenok, in particular, says:
– That guy on the screen worked as A1’s press secretary and for a year and a half leaked Belarusians’ personal data to that vile f**ker and extremist. Instead of getting down on their knees and begging Belarusians for forgiveness, the management of that little outfit and the faces of Austria even brazenly covered for that creature, saying you can’t spread personal data. You spread the personal data of police officers’ children. Because of your filthy books killers came to burn people. If you, damned bourgeois, don’t like the country where you rake in insane money, then you’ll be chopping wood here.
The Austrian side responded to the outburst rather restrainedly.
– At present we are not aware of any legal proceedings, even against A1 Belarus, so we know of these allegations only through unofficial channels, a representative of A1 Telekom Austria Group in Vienna said on Sunday. He emphasized that access to customer data is strictly regulated and logged individually:
– In his role at the company Bredelev did not have any technical access to the information.
Nevertheless, he said, an extended internal investigation has been launched, although the Belarusian authorities have so far been unable to specify the type and scale of any leaks. Official bodies have not initiated an inspection of A1 Belarus’s systems and processes, the head company’s representative in Austria stressed.
Recall that on Saturday the Austrian embassy already expressed protest in connection with the “repentance video” and the published materials that discuss the personal life of an A1 employee, which by European standards is a violation of the personal rights of a company worker.
