Total gambling revenue in Europe grew by 7.5% in 2021. The biggest increase was shown by the online market.
According to the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), total gambling revenue in Europe in 2021 amounted to $98.5 billion, which is 7.5% more than last year. However, gambling companies’ revenue still lags 32% behind the pre-pandemic 2019 levels. The biggest growth was shown by the online market – it grew by 19% over the year.
“The growth trend of the European online gambling market continues, but there remains significant potential for online development in markets such as France, Germany, Italy and Spain, where the online share of the overall gambling market is still relatively low,” said EGBA.
Recall that, according to the open data monitoring service Opendatabot, Ukraine’s budget received only 18% of the planned revenues from the gambling business in 2021.
