Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich intends to create his own football tournament.
It is expected that the Continental Football League will include the top clubs from Russia, China, Serbia, Israel, Bulgaria, as well as several other countries – Belarus, Kazakhstan, Finland. The league’s sponsors are expected to be Russian and Chinese businessmen.
I still don’t get whether he finally sold his Chelsea or not? Looks like he wants to leave Europe altogether for China and Russia 😁
It’s interesting how exactly he plans to do all this and, most importantly, whether it will bring him any benefit and financial profit. Chelsea is a slightly different story.

And where is he going to play in the Champions League if they’ve apparently closed the road for them too. He wants big money, not the Russian Championship.
Oh, what big money, it’s definitely not made in football.
He was getting some pocket change from Chelsea, and what would Spartak be to him if they won’t even get into the Champions League because of political situations. And he doesn’t seem keen on going to the RF.
Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, who owns English club Chelsea, made £4.5m from the club, according to the club’s financial statements for the 2019/20 season. The entrepreneur received income from the club for the first time in 14 years.
The financing is provided by the parent company, Fordstam Ltd, which is supported by the ultimate beneficiary – Roman Abramovich. “In 2020 the group returned part of the investments in the amount of £4.5m,” the report says.
Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003. The report shows that over 14 years the businessman invested more than £1bn in the development of the club. During that time Chelsea never returned the invested funds.
Let him create it then, we’ll see what comes of it. But again, it’s playing in the EPL and being seen in front of cameras and hanging out in the “English crowd”, and playing in the Russian championship.
Well, there’s no choice left. Why not buy Spartak then, if there’s a desire to own some club, but they’ve been kicked out of Europe.
He could buy any club, sure, but who’ll go for the deal and who’ll want to sell. He does understand that you need to take a club with history.
