How different is Gonzo’s Quest Megaways from the regular Gonzo!

If that slot has almost no potential but gives bonuses fairly often even if they’re weak – here the bonus can come very rarely and the bonuses are often empty! but the potential is just huge and the bonus can quite easily give a max win.

Overall the slots are very similar – in the bonus there’s also a multiplier after every match (but it resets each time if you get a non-match). Also for the bonus you need a scatter on reel 1-2-3.

Only here it’s Megaways so the payouts are very big if the number of ways is large! And considering there’s a feature where low symbols are removed and only top symbols remain – it can place a huge number of symbols! when you hit a big win you don’t even need to reach the maximum multiplier.. the main thing is many symbols.

To me the implementation of this slot is decent – but I remember spinning 500 spins to catch a bonus, and the bonus was, to put it mildly, rubbish! they overcomplicated the volatility and could have made something more middle-ground.

It’s, so to speak, a continuation of Gonzo’s Quest from Netent. But with Megaways mechanics and other improvements.
The slot is done in a conquistador theme, searching for various riches and mythical places. Gorgeous sounds, design. Everything is very high-quality and beautiful.
In front of us is a Megaways slot with a maximum of 117,649 paylines (in practice I’ve never seen them that many in this slot, they seem to appear once in a thousand years).
The main mechanic of the slot remains the same – cascades increase the multiplier of the next cascade. In regular spins it’s a 1-2-3-5 multiplier. In the bonus it’s 3-6-9-15.
In regular spins there’s an earthquake mechanic – at any moment at the end of a spin an earthquake can start, which will destroy all small symbols, leaving only big ones. After an earthquake there will always be at least one cascade. So the feature doesn’t pass by unnoticed. But often a cascade gives x1-x5 and nothing else. That always disappoints.
Another mechanic of the slot is wild symbols that stay on the reels permanently for the duration of the spin. That is, cascades don’t destroy them. A maximum of two wild symbols per spin. One appears on the first three reels. The second on the other three reels. It’s done specifically so they can’t appear for infinite cascades)
And to actually get into the bonus, you need to collect three scatters in a row from left to right (a wild symbol can be in them, which also counts as a scatter). Three scatters will give 9 spins. Seems a little. But sometimes that’s enough.
If you catch an earthquake in the bonus and reach the x15 multiplier, you can land a very nice haul. I personally cashed out up to x3000 at most. Although the slot advertises wins up to x20000. Alas, I haven’t seen that yet. But I would be very happy if I did.
From regular spins you could also get x1000 thanks to the earthquake feature. There are win possibilities. You can try it safely.

Gonzo’s Quest Megaways is a slot from provider Red Tiger. It appeared in 2020, basically the same as the old Gonzo from Netent, only Megaways.
The video slot has six reels, 117,649 ways, medium-high volatility, RTP 95.77% and a decent max win of up to x20,000 of the bet.
The game is done in an ancient civilization / treasure-hunt / adventure style. Nicely and attractively drawn, and the soundtrack doesn’t disappoint either.
To trigger the bonus game you need to land three scatter symbols in the form of a gold coin on the first three reels. The wild can substitute for the scatter, so if, say, gold coins land on the first and third reels and a wild on the second, the bonus game still activates. In the old Gonzo the scatters had to land directly, but here, because it’s Megaways, the trigger works in any case. Three coins give you nine free spins, and each additional scatter or wild gives +3 spins. The bonus game itself doesn’t differ from the regular spins except the multiplier increases. From x1 to x5 in the base game, it becomes x3 to x15. The multiplier grows with each hit but does not carry over to subsequent spins. So you might get a spin with matches at x3, then another at x5, and so on up to x15. When the spins end, a new spin starts at x3. For me, the tastiest feature both in the base game and in the bonus is the earthquake, which removes all the “cheap” symbols from the field. It’s best when you’ve built the multiplier up to x15 and the feature hits, then the fields with the picture symbols start paying. Of course it might only hit once or twice or nothing might match at all. I’ve never caught a retrigger here, but I’ve seen the buy feature many times, so extra spins are possible.
To be honest I don’t really like provider Red Tiger and I think many of their slots can’t give you any real wins. But I like this slot and it’s the only one from this maker that’s actually given me wins more than once. The most memorable moment with this game for me was a couple of years ago. I was on a deposit at a casino, nothing was working at all, I was basically busted, and I decided to use my last deposit just to spin this Gonzo. I made the deposit, loaded the slot, started playing and it gave a bonus from about the tenth spin. I didn’t have big hopes, thought it would be, as usual, nothing or at most x100. How wrong I was – it just carried me that day and paid x3200. By the way, that was one of the first big wins I had on this slot. Probably after situations like that specific machines become favourites.

I love Megaways slots. Gonzo is timeless classic, reborn with a new look. A slot that can seriously surprise – the main thing is to catch the destruction of low symbols in the bonus game; in that case you’ve got a chance to win big. There’s a video of a massive hit on YT.
But there’s one but: both Gonzo and Red Tiger slots in general can really eat you up!

Looks like its payout is like Doa. I’ve already lost tens of euros on it, spinning at ten cents a spin, and it never once even went above the starting balance and the little bonus never drops at all. I like playing it, but the results are really disappointing.

Cool slot. Liked it much more than the first version. Played it on Patipoker, hit x240 once and cashed out €20 net win, although it went up to forty. Stingy with bonuses. Spun hundreds of spins and only once did three scatters land. Pros – multiline. Now you don’t have to cuss when three scatters land but on an inactive line. Cons – you get tired searching for matches on such a relatively large number of reels and fields. For now, wherever I can, I spin this slot – I liked it that much.
