Jin Chan’s Pond of Riches… Funny name, right? It immediately conjures up some little pond overgrown with lotuses, and in it – a golden toad guarding treasures. I generally like Asian-themed slots, they always have something calming and beautiful about them.

The graphics in this slot are very pleasant, not eye-searing like it sometimes happens. The colors are soft, pastel, the symbols are drawn in detail but without excessive flashiness. That very toad, the main symbol, looks very cute and funny. Lotuses, coins, fish – all of this creates an atmosphere of calm and harmony.

The gameplay is pretty simple and clear, even for beginners. You spin the reels, collect winning combinations. There’s a wild symbol that helps form those combinations, and a scatter that triggers the bonus game. The bonus game is free spins with a multiplier, which is of course very nice. The more scatters that land, the more free spins you get.

As for payouts, it all depends on luck, like with any slot. But overall, it seemed to me that this slot isn’t stingy. Wins come fairly often, although not always big. In the bonus game you can rake in some decent cash if you’re lucky with the multiplier. But the main thing is that the gameplay is enjoyable.

The Jin Chan’s Pond of Riches slot from Thunderkick is already a pretty old slot, and in my opinion it kind of reminds me of Midas, but it is basically a better version of it, because the wilds can land bigger multipliers and more extra boosts.

I hit x1000 a few times, once in the bonus game, and once more without the bonus – just a full line hit landed through wilds and multipliers. The biggest win I have seen was x2k+, from screenshots people posted. But the slot has a stated max win of x10k, which, most likely, nobody has ever hit)))

The bonus game mechanic was unique for Thunderkick back then. If you hit 3 scatters in the bonus round, it adds +1 random wild and extra spins, and I have only seen that mechanic in NetEnt’s Drive slot. The only difference is that here you get respins on wins, while Drive does not have them.

Payout/RTP/volatility – this slot is a bankroll eater, with lots of dead spins, lots of empty or half-empty bonus rounds, and sitting in it for a long time trying to grind through the wager is not the best idea.

Very poor payout in the base game and the slot is practically incapable of paying out a 40-50+ bet win without the bonus. Rare payouts of 5-20 bets, which doesn’t help keep the balance because there are very, very long runs of spins with no win at all.

Bonuses here are not a frequent pleasure, they usually come in streaks with huge gaps between them. In the bonus itself the slot can give a fairly big win and the provider claims up to 10,000 isks, which in my opinion is not true and the maximum this slot is capable of is about 1,500 isks +/-, for me people write they only managed to get a few times 600-800 isks. It can quite possibly give 2 such bonuses in a row.

The plus for me is that this slot fairly often can give such a win right at the start of a gaming session and you don’t have to sit in it for hours trying to push it. By the way, about pushing – I wouldn’t recommend doing that in this slot at all, because if it “isn’t playing” it can quite easily eat up your stake reserve by a couple thousand bets like it’s nothing. This slot is simply not for wagering requirements.

The main feature here is the locking of symbols that play and the subsequent respin, and it continues as long as symbols keep landing.. Bonuses drop randomly – sometimes very often, sometimes rarely, so you shouldn’t keep spinning forever hoping for a bonus.

What really annoys is that the slot has lots of empty bonuses, truly empty – but that’s already a quirk of this provider, Thunderkick!

I liked the design, it’s easy on the eyes and you can spin for a long time – though I don’t recommend doing that.

Paylines pay well but I didn’t really catch a lot from spins; there are often empty spins and there can be many of them! By the way, in regular spins it doesn’t lock symbols on matches.

The slot isn’t bad, but since it’s very volatile I don’t play it for long and I certainly don’t try to clear the wagering requirement on it.

Interesting design in the style of ancient China. A pretty decent slot with good multipliers, in the bonus retriggers often hit and pay out pretty well.
