I like book-mechanic slots, such as Scroll of Dead. I want to note the well-drawn game design and decent audio that fits the slot’s theme. The main notable feature of this game is the opening of an extra reel during free spins; despite the bonus being 8 free spins, you can often see additional spins in the bonus. The slot is advertised as high volatility, but you can adjust it by changing the lines. The machine has a decent return to player (RTP) of 96.2% and a maximum payout of x7500. For book-themed slots I play no more than 5 lines, especially since in this provider those are the main ones that pay out more often. During my play I very often hit x200-x300 of the bet, but the biggest payout was x900. Most often I enter the slot with an active bonus to raise my balance, since you can catch the bonus within 20-30 spins, but I want to point out right away that clearing different bonuses in it is very poor – over the long run the slot hardly holds your bankroll.

Yes, there are no extra symbols that unlock on retrigger! However, there is a 6th reel that standard slots with the same mechanic don’t have.

At first glance the payouts look heavily cut – and they are, but because of that extra reel the payouts are actually higher! Especially for the top 1 symbol – the payout for a full screen is not x5000 but x10000!

Besides that, the slot is very good to play on 1 line; I personally hit a lot of nice multipliers and top symbols in a row.

For the bonus you need the usual – 3 scatters; unfortunately the bonus is not 10 spins but 8 spins, but retriggers to 8 spins also drop and because of the extra sixth reel it feels like catching a retrigger is easier than in other slots.

I also like this Egyptian theme and Play’n GO’s slot design in general!

I want to note that you can’t buy the bonus, but it usually hits relatively quickly! Also be ready for the slot to often land 2 scatters and very frequently miss the third scatter..

My favorite slot from the provider Play’n GO – I guess this software maker was one of the first, alongside Endorphina, to implement the bonus feature on the “books” theme after the great and mighty (in the past) Austrian mastodon Novomatic. But back to our slot: some will say it’s a regular “books” and they’d be right, but there aren’t actually books “in the air”, neither as scatters nor as regular pay symbols – the scarabs act as the “books” here, namely, when you catch three or more they open the 6th reel and trigger the classic “books” bonus feature. Volatility is above average; usually to check the return I run no more than 30-50 spins, which is enough to understand if the slot is playing or not. If I hit a bonus session, it’s usually 3-5-7 winning bonus rounds without losing money between them, which again usually means the bonus covers the deposit (I always play dep+bon). This slot is great for clearing bonus funds – it’s not forbidden in many places. In the bonus the top symbols often play out, and full screens of tens, jacks and queens aren’t rare, which also gives a nice multiplier on the payout. What specifically hooked me on this slot is obvious – the number of caught bonus rounds and the consequent hits; I’m a low roller, as you can see from the screenshots below, but as they say – to each their own, play within your means. Also the Egyptian theme is very close to me, since my first trip abroad was to Egypt, to Sharm El-Sheikh 20 years ago 🙂 But that’s lyrical – the slot is strong, it can, so to speak, hit big with a single spin from the base game or from the bonus; in short, it definitely deserves attention.
