Wilderland from NetEnt has a forest theme, and although the slot itself looks decent, everything else in the game leaves a lot to be desired.
The Wilderland video slot has a classic 5×3 layout and 20 fixed lines. The slot has a regular wild, a walking wild, a walking wild with a x2 multiplier, magic wild symbols, a scatter, a walking scatter, forest treasure, and FS.
In the base game, the wild and scatter do not pay out on their own, and I consider that a big downside. If two wilds appear next to each other in the activation zone, they turn into one of the walking wild variants and start moving across the reels. When multipliers are part of the same winning combination, they can boost the win up to x8.
Three or more scatters activate FS, but the game can end once there are no walking wilds left on the reels. A magic wild can bring back a full reel of walking wilds and give you more, so there is still a chance for a good win in the bonus game. The base game has a lot of dead spins and frequent small payouts.
In the end, Wilderland turned out to be a mixed bag. The walking wild mechanic looks interesting, but I wouldn’t say I got the most enjoyment out of the game. I do not really feel like going back there a second time.
