Games like Rich Wilde and the Tome of Insanity I call clones and I didn’t like it at all, neither the design nor the sound, they didn’t add anything new to the slot. Features in the slot started to occur rarely, and getting all the way through became practically impossible. Quite predictable high volatility of the game, and the max payout x20000 is apparently pulled out of thin air – I can’t even imagine what you’d have to hit in this machine to get such a win. What’s more, during a week of active play on the slot I didn’t even see x200; I did a huge number of spins and only managed a couple of times to get to the end and see an extra feature. Meanwhile, in the previous version Tome of Madness you could win pretty well by increasing the bet, here as soon as you raise it you immediately see 10-15 almost empty spins without features. Wagering any casino bonuses on this machine is not recommended – the balance drop is too severe. I still think it’s best to play no more than 50 spins on the slot; if features drop frequently, you can continue playing until the bonus round.
Rich Wilde and the Tome of Insanity – is, of course, not the most innovative slot I’ve seen, but there’s not much to really criticize either. The graphics are pleasant, in the Play’n GO style, everything is sharp and colorful. The theme is certainly not new – Cthulhu and all that Lovecraftian horror, but it’s executed solidly. The design is done in dark tones with a prevalence of images that resemble monsters and occult symbols. The sound design creates an atmosphere of tension and mystery that fits the slot’s theme well.
The gameplay is basically standard, although those cascading wins and multipliers add a bit of edge. But, honestly, it gets a little monotonous pretty quickly. Free spins – yes, they’re there, and even with some extra features, but I didn’t notice anything that was a real “wow.”
Overall, it’s a slot like any other. Worth playing if you like the theme and aren’t expecting anything supernatural. Wins happen, losses too, like everywhere. The rating would probably be somewhere in the middle – not a masterpiece, but not a flop either. Just another slot in a long list.
Slot from the provider play’n go.
A kind of copy of tome of madness, with changed features and an increased counter of symbol collection needed to enter the bonus
Differences from the original tome of madness
1. The wild symbol now multiplies not by 2, but by a random amount with a minimum of 2, though it can be higher
2. Instead of 2 functions Abyss and Void there are now 3 functions, the first 2 are just modified classics, the third – Determination – is new, it changes cheap symbols into premium ones
3. In the pre-bonus, where you need to open all the eyes, they added optional ones that increase the multiplier for spins if you make it to the final Cthulhu bonus.
4. Cthulhu no longer drops and stays in the chosen position, but moves randomly, which seemed like a downside to me.
It feels harder to hit the pre-bonus and then the bonus than in the classic tome of madness, although getting a bigger win became easier due to the additional multipliers from both the wild and closing the green eye in the pre-bonus. Unlike the classic “tome” where I hit a max of x450, here my biggest win was x900, and that was from the very first bonus I got when the slot launched. It never happened again.
The slot became more interesting but also more volatile; the max win also increased from x2000 to x5000.
Thanks for reading
So, what can I say about Rich Wilde and the Tome. After Book of Dead, of course, I was curious what they’d come up with. And, you know, Play’n GO didn’t disappoint. They shoved Rich Wilde into a Lovecraftian universe, and it worked. The atmosphere is creepy in the right way, and the graphics are top-notch.
I liked that they moved away from those pay lines. Clusters and cascades – that’s fresh and dynamic. You sit there waiting for something to line up again, and that portal charges up. Those wilds, the Abyss, the Void – cool stuff, but sometimes they pop up totally out of nowhere. And sometimes they really bring the heat!
I remember one time I was spinning, my bankroll almost gone, and then it just started raining! That portal started spitting out wilds one after another, the Abyss just wiped everything out… In the end I recovered and even finished in profit. But, of course, you don’t get that lucky all the time.
The free spins are interesting too, but you’ve gotta grind to get them. That meter charges and charges, and then bam – nothing. But when you do trigger them, you can really boost your stake. Overall, the slot is addictive, but be ready for it to sometimes eat your bankroll like crazy.

A sequel or second part (whichever you prefer) to the old Tome of Madness. It appeared a few months ago at the time of writing this review.
The video slot has five reels and high volatility. RTP depends on the casino – in decent ones it’s 96%, in not-so-decent it can be 94% and lower. It all depends on the greed and honesty of the casino. I prefer the maximum return rate of 96%. The forum states a maximum win of x20000 of the bet amount; I don’t understand how anyone could ever win that here. (maybe a typo and the max win like in the first part is x2000). Minimum bet from 0.10 cents/euro cents/10 rubles. Maximum also depends on the casino – in one it can be $/€100, in another it may be more or less.
Done in an adventure/horror/ancient civilization style. In my opinion it’s drawn a bit worse than the first part; I liked the picture and the animation in the old Tome more. Here it’s a bit clunky, I repeat that’s just how it seemed to me – some people may prefer the second one. The soundtrack is fine and supports the slot’s atmosphere well.
For the bonus game you need to collect winning combinations and fill the portal, activating various bonus features and boosters. The more combinations you catch, the better the bonus will be. Ideally fill the portal with all effects, then you’ll have a higher chance to reach the “run”. In that mode a big Wild symbol in the form of a Cthulhu-like monster appears on the playfield.
I used to like playing the first part so when the second came out I immediately decided to try it. I played it a little, maybe 10-15 sessions, and didn’t see more than x100 here. Basically two identical slots – I don’t get why they released it. Exactly the same mechanics, the effects play a bit differently, but it doesn’t change the essence. Bonuses also give small wins, but at least they hit often. I also noticed that across all my sessions the slot kept balance fairly well and did many spins – the money didn’t drain and I saw bonuses. Maybe I was just lucky, some people had no bonuses at all and the balance wouldn’t hold. Overall it seemed okay to me for clearing a wager, but nothing more. You’re unlikely to win much here.
When this slot came out I expected a lot more interesting stuff and thought the game would be more fun than its previous version – however the slot turned out slapdash, like the visuals are new and the graphics are okay but overall it didn’t impress.. I also didn’t like the fast spin in the slot – which in fact isn’t that fast and each spin takes more time, which doesn’t suit me at all.
They tried to hype off the first Madness and they kinda did – or rather it’s complete crap, I didn’t like the slot at all! Supposed max win x5k but I doubt anyone will even see x500 in it…
They added multipliers at the end when ktuha appears – but in reality it barely does anything, the slot’s look and design are pretty boring too, and you can’t really win much on spins (without the bonus) even if something lands via a wild multiplier… the only big plus of the slot is that in the features it can pay not 2 books but more and that wasn’t in the first part BUT the features are awful and don’t compare at all to part 1 of Madness. I spun the slot for a very long time and a lot, max win x390 – but it ate up way, way more and I think that’s not the limit! Catching 7 features in the bonus is very hard, and without them you won’t even see the additional ktuha feature, maybe some people will like this slot but I still recommend you try the first part and compare!
RTP varies everywhere but I played at a casino where the max RTP was 96% and at that RTP I saw the bonus maybe once in 200 spins and it barely paid anything… I want to give credit that it supposedly has potential and more than other parts – how it actually performs is unclear because I didn’t really see anything good in it. In conclusion I want to say that I personally won’t touch this slot because I don’t see any point and I’ll keep trying to catch something in the first part, that one at least interested me a bit.
